Teong Choon Poultry Farm
Founded in 1984 by Teong Choon Poultry Farm S/B, better known as TC Farm, the company began as a small family farm in Banting, Kuala Langat, Selangor, Malaysia. Starting its operations with traditional open cages, TC Farm quickly made a name for itself in the local poultry industry. Over the years, the company has grown and modernized, particularly under the leadership of Tiew Siew Sien, the second generation of the family, who took over the farm management in 2016.
With modernization came the implementation of closed cages, aimed at improving efficiency and production conditions. However, in 2024, TC Farm took a bold step toward the future by adopting cage-free production systems. This move not only symbolizes an evolution in the farm’s production practices but also reflects a deep commitment to animal welfare, aligning with ethical demands and market trends that value responsibly sourced products.
TC Farm currently employs around 35 staff members, who together produce approximately 36 million eggs per year, generating revenues exceeding 15 million Malaysian Ringgits.
Animal Welfare Certification
Recently, TC Farm decided to join the Certified Humane® program, a certification that ensures animals are raised under conditions that meet strict welfare standards. The adoption of this program was driven by the desire to further enhance the farm’s management practices, improve animal health and productivity, and tap into new markets that value high-quality products with animal welfare certification.
Currently, one production line, known as House D, is certified, representing about 12% of TC Farm’s total production. However, there are ambitious plans to expand this certification to all production lines in the near future.
TC Farm’s products are mainly sold through the company’s website, with ongoing negotiations to expand distribution to supermarket chains nationwide. As a pioneer in cage-free egg production in Malaysia, TC Farm is determined to provide high-quality eggs to its customers while ensuring the welfare of its hens, promoting sustainable practices that reflect the company’s commitment to a more responsible and conscious future.
