Headquartered in Doddamagge, Hassan, Karnataka, India, Milk Rush Farms & Technologies Private Limited is a pioneer in animal welfare-certified milk production in the country. Founded by Shireen Rangaswamy the company was born from a simple yet powerful question: “Is it possible to produce milk in a way that is clean, ethical, and good for both cows and consumers?”
From the outset, a commitment to animal welfare has been at the heart of the project. In 2017, the company began operations with a pilot farm of 200 cows, which quickly evolved into a modern facility with Israeli and Italian technology, combined with veterinary science and the dedication of a highly qualified technical team.
Today, Milk Rush has 950 dairy cows and a team of more than 30 professionals, including Veterinarians, Nutritionists, Technicians, and Field assistants. Production is around 8,000 liters of milk per day, fully certified by the international Certified Humane® program, and distributed directly to urban consumers through the “MILKING” and “ALL ABOUT MILK” brands”.
The farm works with compost-bedded facilities, provides clean water and feed 24 hours a day, and maintains management practices that respect the natural behavior of cows, without tethering, confinement, or stress. This approach has resulted in significant changes in the behavior and health of the animals, with improved fertility, reduced mastitis, and even cows that walk voluntarily to milking without fear.
More than just a milk producer, the company is also a training center. Through its producer support program, Milk Rush is forming a network of partner farms that receive mentoring and support to also adopt Certified Humane® standards. The goal is ambitious: to form the largest network of animal welfare-certified milk producers in India.
In addition, the company adopts sustainable practices that include the use of organic feed, compost recycling, and water-efficient management systems. The commitment is clear: to offer high-quality milk produced in an ethical, sustainable, and transparent manner.
Currently, Milk Rush – MILKING products are sold mainly in Bengaluru and the surrounding area through subscription deliveries and specialty organic retailers. The company is also negotiating with large retail platforms to expand its reach, while maintaining its focus on quality and animal welfare.
Certified Humane® certification was instrumental in consolidating this business model. For the Milk Rush & Maggemane team, the program not only technically validated the farm’s good practices, but also inspired new internal standards and showed that it is possible to transform the reality of dairy farming in India with a direct impact on animal health, milk quality, and consumer confidence.
